WCOOP Day 16 Roundup

The PokerStars World Championship Of Online Poker saw another solid days worth of action on Day 16, with Alexey “ LuckyGump” Makarov, Matt Stout and the former WSOP Main Event winner Jonathan Duhamel all making good scores.

Makarov actually won his event and finally added a WCOOP title and bracelet to his SCOOP title; he achieved this by taking down the $320 Pot Limit Omaha 6-Max event and won $110k in the process.

Duhamel on the other hand finished just short of making a final table appearance in the turbo tournament but will be satisfied with a payout after finishing in 12th place. Here we are going to have a re-cap on most of the better tournament action that was staged throughout Day 16 of the WCOOP.

$215 NLHE Day 2 Event 42

Event 42 saw a stunning field of 8,342 players that created a prize pool of $1.6 million, where in an event that size it must be the worst feeling in the world to be the bubble boy. Well that is just what the Frenchman Marc-Andre “FrenchDawg” Ladouceur was as he just missed out on the final table in this massive two day event.

Day 1 saw that huge field reduced to just 115 for the second day’s play, and Ladouceur was one of the chip leaders along with players such as “AlexBet86”, “kidpro2012” and “d-mon-d”. The player who recently managed a great performance at the WSOP Main Event by finishing in 13th place can count himself very unlucky to have been eliminated just one place from the final table. He had pocket tens which were cracked by pocket eights in a huge pot that had 14 million chips.

Eventually it was “OMG_Pokish” who ran out winner after successfully dispatching the final player “FabOne1986” in heads up. It was always going to be difficult for his opponent who only had 9.5 million chips compared to 73 million of “OMG_Pokish”.

Final Standings:

OMG_POKISH $250,264.40

FabOne1986 $184,141.30

GrumpyNacho $133,472.00

Okto19 $88,425.20

xAndorx $68,404.40

04122010 $51,720.40

briankrause1 $35,870.60

Trance&Acid $20,020.80

omar miete $12,930.10

$2,100 NLHE Day 2 Event 44

ASIAAN” came extremely close to taking down his second WCOOP bracelet of 2012 yesterday in Event 44. However, it wasn’t quite to be for the player in an event that is one of the more lucrative of the series.

This 2 day event saw an original 1,387 players creating a prize pool that amounted to $2.7 million. That prize pool attracted some real big name players such as Vanessa Selbst, Liv Boeree, Kevin “BeLOWaBOve” Saul and George Danzer.

For the PokerStars Team Pros each of Boeree, Slebst and Danzer all managed to get cash out in this event but they were upstaged by fellow Team Pro Brenes who managed to finish in 11th place and take home $11k for his couple of days work.

ASIAAN” got to the final table and would have felt quite confident of having a good chance at his second bracelet, though he eventually fell in 5th place and banked $135,926. The eventual winner was the Brit “Aln_the_Kid” who earned an impressive $370,207 to record his biggest ever score.

Final Standings:
