On Day 18 of the World Championship Of Online Poker we had James “Andy_McLeod” Obst, Alex “AlexKP” Peterson and Ana Marquez all making some waves. Both Marquez and Obst secured a place at the final table of the Omaha Eight or better event and A third place finish for Peterson in the $1k Hold’em event taking down $160k in the process.

Day 19 will see the high roller $2,100 PLO 6-Max get underway too, so we are in for another treat tomorrow too. Here is a recap on what happened on Day 18 of The WCOOP:

$1,050 NLHE Event 50

Alex “AlexKP” Peterson outlasted a huge field of over a thousand players in this event to make it all the way down to the final table. The 1,308 players that signed up for this event created a very nice prize pool of 1.3 million.

Most of that field was eliminated during Day 1 with only 70 players coming back to the virtual felt for Day 2. With regards to the many PokerStars Team Pros that entered none of them really lit up the tournament with the best finisher being Vivian Im in 368th.

Of the 70 players remaining in was primarily the unknowns that made up the positions apart from Peterson who was hanging around the top ten throughout the whole day. He finally made that final table, though be it as one of the shorter stacks and instantly started to improve his position. He won one of the early pots to bring himself over the 800k marker.

His improvements continued and finally fell in 3rd place. “moukari86” was the player that would eventually win the event and take the $193,000.

$215 NLHE Event 51

Alexx Porter had an amazing day and actually proved to unbeatable in Event 51 as he powered his way to the first place payout of $76k. With 1,112 entrants and a whole host of rebuys the prize pool was finally set at $500,200.

The PokerStars Team Pros were again out in force for this one though they hardly set the event alight with Vanessa Rousso proving to the best of them by finishing in 119th to cash for $900. That left the only known player in the field being Marty “TheLipoFund” Mathis and he made the final table and eventually finished in 6th.
