WPT Borgata Poker Open Day 2 – Hernandez Still Leads

WSOP chips

Day 2 at the World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Open saw the field of players once again reduced as there were just 190 that finished the day from the 450 that had initially sat down at the start of it. Despite still being in the event, none of these players are yet guaranteed any payouts as only the top 120 players will be getting a share of the prize pool that was announced during the day.

Leading the field going into Day 3 will be the same man that was leading the event at the start of this one. Lazaro Hernandez retains his position at the top, but only just as his chip count of 753,000 is only around 20k more than that of Matt Haugen in second place with 735,500.

Others to make it into Day 3 of the event include Dan O’Brien, Faraz Jaka, Matt Affleck, Andy Frankenberger, Joe Serock, Noah Schwartz, Jeff Gross and Cliff Josephy.

The field was cut by more than half on Day 2 so there were sure to be some big name casualties. There were quite a few in fact as the likes of Matt Salsberg, Ana Marquez, Allen Kessler, Victor Ramdin, Matt Waxman, Erick Lindgren and the great man Mike Sexton himself were all sent home with no pay.

The players that are still in have it all to do again tomorrow. They will be trying to squeeze into those top 20 positions before trying to last into Day 4 where the real money starts to come in.
