WPT Copenhagen Main Event Day 1a – Petrovic Out In Front

tues2

The latest stop on the WPT got underway yesterday as the Copenhagen Main Event attracted 98 players to Day 1a. From those 98 there would be just 56 survivors at the end of the day who would be going into Wednesdays Day 2.

They will be awaiting the other survivors that make it through the second flight of Day 1 that starts a little later today.

By the end of the day the chip leader was Andre Petrovic who had managed to amass a stack of 224,400, with him leading practically from start to finish. As the event started he came out the blocks at a hundred miles an hour, with him eliminating his first opponent Sean Jazayeri within the first couple of hours.

In second place was Rasmus Neilsen who had built up a healthy stack of 146,300, whilst in third place was Nicolay Langfeldt who was a little way behind with 125,400.

Late Entries!

We had a raft of players who decided to turn up late for the event in Mickey Petersen, Keven Stammen, Bryn Kenney and the workaholic Ana Marquez. They had left right up until the last minute to pay their buy-ins with Stammen in particular proving that the early stages of a tournament are not always required as he quickly sat down and eliminated Kara Scott.

The flop was Ah-Js-2s, with Scott hitting a two pair and Stammen on a flush draw. He got lucky after hitting it on the river to send Scott to the rail.

Whilst he was making good progress, other players such as Elisabeth Hille were struggling. She found pocket queens only to see that an opponent had found pocket aces and she took a big hit, she did make it into Day 2 however though with a short stack of just 24,000 chips.

Current Top Ten:

Andre Petrovic – 220,400

Rasmus Neilsen – 146,300

Nicolay Langfeldt – 125,400

Yaron Zeev Malki – 123,800

Phillip Jacobsen – 105,675

Rifat Palevic – 105,300

Peter Jaksland – 102,100

Martin Nielsen – 94,900

Phillip Fletcher – 87,100

Rob Hansen – 85,525

With Day 1b on the horizon, we are expecting a larger field than the first flight with a whole host of big names expected. Each of those players will be looking to make it through to Day 2 where they will join up with the survivors from yesterday to play out Day 2 on Wednesday.

Keep fully up to date by following what happens when we bring reports of each day’s play; we ourselves will be following this event right the way through till completion.
