WPT Dublin Day 1b – Ainsworth Tops The Days Leader Board

The second flight of Day 1 at the World Poker Tour Dublin was completed last night, with Day 1b having a much healthier turn out than was seen on Day 1a. The player that finished right on top of the pile of the leader board during Day 1b was Jude Ainsworth who racked up a decent stack of 181,000.

In a marked improvement on the 66 players that entered the tournament on Day 1a, the was a total of 172 players that took to the felt on Day 1b, with 72 of them making it into Day 2 along with the 17 from Day 1a.

That gave us a grand total of 238 players which built a prize pool of €238,500 to be shared amongst the top 27 players of the field, with the winner receiving €67,500 for his efforts.

Whilst Ainsworth will be thrilled at finishing as the days chip leader, he is still a little way off the overall leader of the tournament Jeremy Nock who has 227,200 chips. Both of those two will also be very aware that a player that will be a massive threat to them on Day 2 is that of Vladimir Geshkenbein, who is widely tipped to have a big year in 2013.

There some other big names in the field too who are more than capable of making a challenge on this title and it is certainly far from over just yet. Some of the more notable of these names include James Dempsey, Jay O’Toole and the super aggressive Jason Tompkins, whilst one of Ireland’s most famous players Andy Black is still in contention too.

Though the event has had around one hundred less registrants than last year, the quality of the field seems stronger than it was back then. With so many other massive tournaments kicking off this month, it could be the reason this one has been affected a little bit.

Either way, the poker has been of the best quality so far and we are sure that is going to continue right up until the winner is decided. Keep checking with us as we follow this event until the end!
