WPT World Championship Day 3 – Afriat Still Leads

Poker chips

The World Poker Tour World Championship is now down to the final two tables of 18 players after Day 3 got to that number from the 68 that began the day. Leading that number right now is the same player that was yesterday in Eric Afriat on 2,029,000 chips.

Others in the top ten include Anthony Gregg, Ryan D’Angelo, Justin Young and Keven Stammen.

The bubble was also passed on Day 3 as only the top 36 players would get paid. Many players went home with nothing including Jeff Gross, Mat Waxman, Mike Leah and Phill Hellmuth. There were many that were eliminated inside the money too. Scott Seiver, Jason Koon, Jeff Madsen, Mat Stout and Loni Harwood were the biggest names to go home with at least a payout.

Eric Afriat seems to be on fire in this event so far and now with just 18 players left he must be able to smell a title here. There are plenty of high caliber players that have more than what it takes to catch him though so he wont be completely confident just yet.

Join us for the report on Day 4 tomorrow where we will know the more about who is in contention for this massive title and the $1,350,000 that is on offer to the victor.
