WSOP Day 27 – Players Championship Underway

On Day 27 of the World Series of Poker we had two bracelets given out and the start of one of the most anticipated events of the series in the $50k Poker Players Championship. This meant that all the big names were in attendance as they looked to secure one of the bigger titles of the year.

Event #42 – $5k 6-Handed PLO Day 3 – Drummond Claims Maiden Bracelet

The first event to finish with a new bracelet handed out was this one with Michael Drummond taking the victory and first place payout of $541,747. He also claimed the first bracelet of his career after defeating the final 6 that took part on Day 3.

Event #43 – $1.5k Limit Hold’em Day 3 – Kelly Finally Gets 2nd Bracelet

The final table of nine returned to battle it out on Day 3 of this event and Dan Kelly was the man that had the chip lead at the start. This lead never really looked under threat and he eventually came out on top against Yegor Tsurikov heads up to win the 2nd bracelet of his career and $195,167 that came with it.

Day 2 of this event saw 212 players returning to the action knowing that only 198 of them would be making the paying places. Once the bubble was out of the way, the eliminations came thick and fast before just 15 would make it to the end of the day. Brandon Ageloff has the slight lead going into Day 3 but Ray Foley is right on his tail with 993,000.

This event was the first of two that started up yesterday and it attracted 1,841 players which had to attempt to get through eleven levels to progress into Day 2. Just 144 of them could manage that with Jonathan Bodden finishing the day at the top of the chip counts with 143,000.

Event #46 – $50k Poker Players Championship Day 1 – Glantz Leading

One of the more prestigious events at the WSOP got underway last night with the $50k Poker Players Championship initially attracting 85 players. That number can still increase though with the registration period open until a couple of hours into Day 2.

Matt Glantz finished the day ahead of the remaining 80 players with a chip count of 324,700 but with a star studded field of players, there is still plenty for him to do.
